Application for Renewable Energy Development Officer
The Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) has been created to oversee and promote the development of Renewable Energy in Mauritius and operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities. The Agency intends to fill the following vacancy and invites candidates who have the necessary experience, expertise, interpersonal skills and drive to apply.
As an Equal Opportunity Employer, MARENA is inviting applications from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as Renewable Energy Development Officer for two-year contract basis, renewable if necessary.
Qualifications
A. Candidates should possess –
(a) a degree from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the
Board; and
(b) a Master’s degree in Physical Science or Engineering or Renewable/Sustainable Energy or an
equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
B. Candidates should –
(i) reckon at least two years’ post qualification experience in energy/renewable energy sector or related
areas.
(ii) possess good conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills ;
(iii) possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills; and
(iv) be computer literate.
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed
Salary Scale: Rs 28225

Main Duties:
1. To keep up-to-date with renewable energy policy developments and to assist in the preparation of technical, policy and strategy papers.
2. To carry out surveys/studies related to renewable energy as well as their management.
3. To write proposals and to undertake needs analysis.
4.To search and to retrieve information from various sources using a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
5. To initiate, assist and to conduct seminars/workshops as well as organise stakeholder meetings.
6. To participate in the execution of strategic plans for the renewable energy.
7. To initiate, develop, conduct and lead sub-programmes/projects of the Agency.
8.To prepare project requirements, objectives as well as terms of reference and also to assist with the monitoring of project deadlines.
9. To provide input for articles, briefs, brochures, leaflets, reports and other documentation materials related to the programmes of the Agency.
10. To develop relevant performance indicators and to carry out modelling using software tools.
11.To collect/compile data and to maintain databases as well as updating of the Management Information Systems of the Agency.
12. To liaise with stakeholders and with relevant organisations locally and internationally.
13. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.
14. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Renewable Energy Development Officer in the roles ascribed to him.
Note
In case of a force majeure/public emergency, the Renewable Energy Development Officer will be required to be available to provide his services to ensure business continuity either through work from home, remote working, working online or work performed through any other IT system.
