Application for Compliance Officer

The Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) has been created to oversee and promote the development of Renewable Energy in Mauritius and operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities. The Agency intends to fill the following vacancy and invites candidates who have the necessary experience, expertise, interpersonal skills and drive to apply.

MARENA is inviting applications from qualified candidates for one Compliance Officer on contract basis for two years renewable.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Law and Management or Science or Engineering or Quality Management/Assurance or equivalent.

SCHEME OF DUTY

The Compliance Officer candidate will be responsible, amongst others, to:

  • examine and ascertain that all documents and applications submitted either manually or electronically comply with the various laws under the purview of the Agency;

  • assess and ascertain that fees, whenever required, are properly levied on documents;

  • follow up with conformity assessment bodies on matters pertaining to compliance provisions as per the MARENA Act;

  • perform data capture operations in the computerised system of the Agency and to ensure their accuracy;

  • produce and keep up-to-date a directory of accredited conformity assessment bodies.

  • liaise with the Information Systems Officer to maintain the Management Information System of the Agency;

  • validate information captured and to issue any document or certificate required under the respective legislation

  • ensure that information and documents required under the respective legislation are attended to expeditiously

  • assist the CEO in taking any appropriate action in respect of any non-compliance under the various legislation administered by the Agency.

  • follow up judicial action against defaulting entities until final determination.

  • effect site visits at any registered offices or/and business premises to ensure compliance with the various legislation administered by the Agency.

  • use ICT in the performance of his duties.

  • perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Compliance Officer in the roles ascribed to him.
