Application for Finance Officer
The Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) has been created to oversee and promote the development of Renewable Energy in Mauritius and operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities. The Agency intends to fill the following vacancy and invites candidates who have the necessary experience, expertise, interpersonal skills and drive to apply.
MARENA is inviting applications from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as Finance Officer(FO) on contract basis for two years.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a degree in Accounting from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board or at least ACCA level 2.
Experience:
Candidates should –
reckon at least two years’ experience in accounting or finance duties;
possess good communication and interpersonal skills;
possess good conceptual and analytical skills; and
be computer literate.
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed.

SCHEME OF DUTY
The FO candidate will be responsible, amongst others, for:
1. To perform day to day financial tasks and to monitor as well as ensure compliance to the accounting and finance policies and procedures manual.
2. To ensure proper administration and operations of the Management Information System so that all the finances are maintained in an accurate and timely manner.
3. To prepare, monitor and manage budgets and present potential scenarios and outcomes to management team for a more insightful information and expectations that aid in long-term and short-term decision making.
4. To prepare monthly statements; establish and maintain cash controls.
5. To ensure timely financial reporting to management as required.
6. To establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the Agency to improve existing internal control system in the Finance Department including the preparation of Accounting and Finance Policies and Procedures Manual.
7. To act as an ex-officio member of Board Committees.
8. To monitor and report on matters related to financed projects from donor agencies and other development partners and attend project steering committees thereof.
9. To liaise and monitor with procurement officer.
10. To assist the Procurement and Supply Officer to develop procurement procedures adapted to the swift implementation of the Agency’s work programme, and in conformity with the public procurement rules.
11. To process and monitor contract management of the procurement initiated by the Agency.
12. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Finance Officer in the roles ascribed to him.
