The Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the following position:
• Driver/Office Attendant - on contract basis for two years
Qualifications:
Candidates should show proof of having sat for Cambridge School Certificate or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board and possessing a valid driving license to drive cars, vans and minibuses.
NOTE 1
Selected candidates will be required to undergo a medical test to assess their eye-sight and physical fitness.
Experience:
reckon at least three years’ experience of driving a car.
Candidates should:
be able to speak English and French fluently;
be a holder of a valid driving license to drive cars or vans;
have a clean driving record;
have a basic knowledge of mechanics and simple vehicle maintenance;
have a good eyesight.
Salary : Rs 15,485
Candidates should produce evidence of knowledge/ experience claimed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible, amongst others, to:

drive with proper care the vehicles of the Agency for the conveyance of staff, materials and
equipment in connection with the activities of the organization and perform escort related tasks
as directed;
carry out simple checks/ maintenance tasks;
report any defect observed to the officer in charge and take vehicle to workshop for repair /
servicing as instructed by the latter;
attend to minor repairs such as cleaning of spark plugs, replacing of fuse or bulb, changing of
tyres and making arrangements for mending of punctures in the event of breakdown on the
road;
help, whenever required, the mechanic when the vehicle under his charge breaks down on the
road and has to be towed or repaired on the spot;
keep a log book and record issue of fuel, all movements, tyres and battery changes.
[As Office Attendant]
perform messenger duties such as running errands, dispatch of correspondence and
distribution of files and documents, photocopying of documents, press cuttings, circulars and
other papers;
operate office equipment such as duplicating binding, photocopying, and fax machines and
telephone switchboard / PABX console, whenever required;
respond to calls and be in attendance at the reception counter of the Agency as and when
required;
open and close offices and keep the premises clean at a good standard;
usher in/guide visitors to the schedule officers and maintain a record of such visits;
prepare and serve tea and refreshments to visitors and during meetings;
assist in the movement of furniture and equipment;
perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the
delivery of the output and results expected from the Driver / Office Attendant in the roles
ascribed to him.
Note: Driver/Office Attendant may be required to work outside normal working hours, including
Sundays, Public Holidays and officially declared cyclone days and should abide by the provisions
of the Financial Management kit concerning responsibilities of a Driver for his vehicle.
